Skills to pay the bills!
My Skills lessons are great for learning things like Bunny Hops, Wheelies, Manuals, Skids/Scandy Flicks, Stoppies, and Nose Pivot Turns. If you feel like you need more control over your bike skill are a great way to achieve that. They help you to understand more about how you bike works and how to manipulate it confidently. There not only for showing off… at least not all the time!
Skills
Front & Rear Wheel Lift → Bunny Hop. A Bunny Hop is the skill of lifting both wheels off the ground on flat terrain. It's essential for clearing obstacles and serves as the foundation for more advanced jumping techniques.
Front Wheel Lift → Wheelie. A Wheelie involves lifting the front wheel into the air using the power of your pedals. It's not only fun but also incredibly useful for technical climbing and navigating gravel roads.
Front Wheel Lift → Manual. The Manual is similar to a Wheelie, but instead of relying on pedal power, you use your body and hips to lift the front wheel. This technique is key for maneuvering around obstacles while descending and is an advanced component of the Bunny Hop.
Rear Wheel Lift → Stopie. A Stopie is when you lift the rear wheel using the front brake. It's a fantastic way to improve front brake control and build confidence in your braking abilities.
Controlled Skids → Scandy Flick. The Scandy Flick (Scandinavian Flick) is a stylish technique to scrub off speed before entering a corner. You initiate a skid in the opposite direction of the corner, then release the brake to shred through the turn. It's great for improving cornering technique and speed control.
Pumping Corners → Shralp/Roost Corners. Shralping or Roosting corners involves using the bike's momentum to generate power and force, without using the brakes. This allows you to slide the tire across the surface, creating a distinctive "shralp" sound or kicking up "roost" (dirt). It’s perfect for boosting cornering confidence and learning how to gauge grip.
